Current Internship Opportunities

Art Programs Intern

(2-3 available per semester)

The Art Programs Intern will have the opportunity to assist Art4you’s Program staff with all facets of youth and adult programming: art project planning, heading up one-time events, setting up and cleaning up the studio, assisting the teaching artist, working with students, guiding volunteers and potentially overseeing a weekly art class.

Time
10-25 hours/week (consistent weekly schedule, with some exceptions for special events)

Preferred hours include:
*Generally, between the hours of 11am - 5pm
*Monday through Friday, Monday or Tuesday evening until 7pm
*Flexibility for pre-planned special events during weeknights and weekends

Skills & Characteristics
*Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented *Passionate about the mission of Art4you; the arts/cultural community and offering programs to people with disabilities.
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Duties & Educational Opportunities
*Support for small and large community events including Art4you Open Studios, programs at partner organizations, events, and more.
*Opportunities to lead various aspects of programs and events from start to finish and/or support Coordinator or curator in execution.
*Program assistance and oversight; prepping materials, project/lesson creation.
*Contribute content to social media platforms and ideas for promotional materials to promote events. *Participate in recruitment of volunteers to support events and event preparations.
*Office administrative assistance

Mentorship Program:

Are you trying to improve your skills in painting and drawing. It’s lonely, and you can’t get the personal feedback you need when you get frustrated. Staying motivated and on track is hard without support. Mentorship program is ideal for an advanced student or emerging professional artist. Maybe you are a working artist who feels ready to change direction, are feeling blocked, or struggling to create the work that “feels like your own.” Maybe you need professional advice about time management, gallery presentation, and promotion.

Individual Mentorship program:

(Online & Physical Option Available)

In this program students and mentor meet together online for individual critiques, lessons and demonstrations weekly. With each student mentor strive to consider personal strengths, weaknesses and needs, and to individually guide him or her toward mastery of all levels of the curriculum. While this platform has a quickly growing library of hundreds or hours of recorded demonstrations and lessons, our goal is not to just to provide information. There is plenty of that out there. Our goal is to personally assist you, through weekly zoom meetings, and other personal communications, in reaching your artistic goals and to help you avoid the constant trying and failing that so many self-taught artists experience year after year.

Let us help you become a full-time working artist or just paint and draw better than you ever imagined possible. If studying with us, is your true desire, start here. Don't wait. Let's cross as many bridges together as possible online/ physical so when space opens up, you will be so much further ahead.

As your mentor, we will:
-Learn about your current skills and goals and help you create your own plan for working toward your creative goals.
-Spend 30 minutes with you each week, with a one-on-one video call, for critique, support and advice.

You:
-Have spent at least 18 months of time invested in creative learning of some sort, an art class, a drawing class etc.
-You can dedicate at least 6-9 hours a week to your creative work.
-Are ready to make your creative work a priority, and ready to support your personal growth and wellbeing.

Subscribe: Mentorship fee applicable monthly, we will meet you weekly on Zoom, at a regularly scheduled time. We ask that you make an initial commitment to 8 weeks, and then renew month to month as long as you wish. You will not be charged during vacations or scheduled breaks.
